Bellwethers Font by Angie Makes

Meet Bellwethers… a fancy, doodley, modern calligraphy¬†font with swashes galore. Perfect to add a little whimsy and carefree elegance to your next project.

This font contains 6 separate fonts that include a full-on smorgasbord of swash letterforms. Swashes are easily accessible by simply dropping text into your desired swash font. (See image below to see a closer look at the various swash types and lengths.)

To use a swash font, type lowercase a-z for the initial (Beginning of the word) font swashes and type uppercase A-Z for the terminal (Tail of the word) swashes. Fonts come as .otf files. The following fonts are included:

  • Bellwethers Regular
  • Bellwethers Extras
  • Bellwethers Curly Swashes
  • Bellwethers Long Swashes
  • Bellwethers Short Swashes
  • Bellwethers Longest Swashes

Swashes are only available on lowercase letterforms, but you can always use the glyphs panel to manually add the swashes to your uppercase letters too.

Bellwethers is perfect for so many design projects. Here’s just a few ideas:

  • Logo Design
  • Branding Design
  • Web / Blog Graphics
  • Physical products
  • Invitations / Stationery

The sky is the limit! I hope you enjoy using Bellwethers in your projects. Feel free to use this as a web font. For questions regarding large-scale commercial use or extended licensing, please contact me for more info.

Hi I just buy the bellwethers Font, but I dont know how to make the last letter longer can you help me???Thanks

    • Angie

Yes, you simply need to type a CAPITAL letter to extend the swash to the right.

I just purchased font. I had assumed that there would be a way to add a swash to the beginning of a name without making the first letter lower case. In retrospect none of your samples show an upper case first letter.

It’s a pretty font and I really wish I could use it more, but it’s frustrating to try and use multiple versions of the same font just to be able to use the swashes.

      Hi Elizabeth,

Thanks so much for your purchase! I know it IS frustrating to use the multiple swash versions. These are just included for folks using the font in software without a glyphs panel. The best / easiest way to use the swashes is in a program that supports glyphs. See this tutorial for more info:
